Fire Alarm Pull Station Triggered By Nutty Intruder

In another article where we discuss the usage of Fire Alarm Pull Stations, there was brief mention of a young girl who triggered a fire alarm system in her school by activating a manual pull station.

She was easily caught and punished due to the strategically-placed CCTV cameras viewing all exits of interest around the school.

Today we were alerted to an interesting story out of the Tampa Bay area where an elementary school’s fire alarm system was triggered by a furry intruder.

According to this report, a trapped squirrel was caught on video as the cause of the so-called “false alarm”.

At first, both Blackburn Elementary school officials and the local fire department thought it to be a false alarm. The mystery was soon solved as the school security and engineering departments searched video, back-tracking to the same time frame as that of the alarm event.

According to a recent article found on foxtampabay.com, the school could have been fined for false alarms if not for the surprising and entertaining video discovered on the school’s security camera DVR (Digital Video Recorder).
